The internship program at Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations is intended to provide college / university students and recent graduates the opportunity to use and develop skills they have learned in the classroom by working at our state-of-the-art production facility, and to provide Volkswagen Chattanooga the opportunity to develop talent for potential future entry-level positions.
Summary
Volkswagen internships are full-time positions (40 hours/week). Candidates will be expected to be available to work during normal business hours (Monday – Friday; exact hours will vary by position and some positions might require work on Saturdays). To be eligible for the internship program, candidates are required to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution or have graduated from one within the 6 months prior to the start date of the internship. Candidates who do not meet our guideline will not be considered. This position will start in May and end in August 2024 with a chance for extension through December 2024. Applications for later terms will not be accepted at this time.
Responsibilities
Manage projects in an automotive manufacturing environment (Assembly Shop), meet and/ or exceed company goals and objectives.
• New and Series Product Pre-Planning Concept, Including Investment Planning
• Specification Development for new and existing manufacturing equipment and tooling
• Equipment Development, Design, Installation, Commissioning, and Handover to Series Production
• Support in Process/Product Development
• Continuous Improvement Activities to support best in class production system
Qualifications
Required
• Currently enrolled or recently graduated with Engineering Degree
• Mechanical/Electrical experience
• MS Office skills (Excel. PPT, Etc.)
Preferred
• Technical writing experience
• PLC programming / automation experience
• MicroStation and/or Catia Software experience
• 3D Printing experience
• Ergonomic assist experience
• Experience within: Lean manufacturing, capital project implementation, Fixture development, vendor management, CAD Software, Layout Design, Process Development, additional language skills.
Pay / Benefits
- Junior $18/hour
- Senior or Graduate $20/hour
- 2 days of paid time off per term
- Financial assistance for relocation/housing not provided.
