The internship program at Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations is intended to provide college / university students and recent graduates the opportunity to use and develop skills they have learned in the classroom by working at our state-of-the-art production facility, and to provide Volkswagen Chattanooga the opportunity to develop talent for potential future entry-level positions. 

Summary

Our internships are full-time positions (40 hrs/week).  Candidates will be expected to be available to work during normal business hours (Monday – Friday; exact hours will vary by position and some positions might require work on Saturdays).  To be eligible for the internship program, candidates are required to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution or have graduated from one within the 6 months prior to the start date of the internship.  Candidates who do not meet this guideline will not be considered. This position will start in August and end in December 2024 Applications for later terms will not be accepted at this time. 

Responsibilities

As an intern, the applicant will have the opportunity to build their analytical and technical skills in accounting and finance in an international/multi-cultural environment.  The intern will work with local directors, managers, and specialists to accomplish the goals of the finance department.  The intern will be a contributing member of the team and will gain hands-on experience with month-end close processes, labor and overhead budgeting, reporting and analysis, and essential presentation skills. 

Specific duties include:

  • Creating financial presentations using Excel, Powerpoint, and ThinkCell which require accuracy and attention to detail
  • Analyze and report on monthly financial results, including variance analysis (actual vs budget)
  • Support month-end close process and consolidation of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow)
  • Analyze department requests for expenditures
  • Review month-end and ad-hoc reporting for content and accuracy
  • Supporting with miscellaneous tasks for special events

Education:

  • Required:  2+ years towards Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

Scope and Magnitude

Pay Rates based on level of education:
Junior $18/hour
Senior $20/hour

Recent Graduate $24/hour
