The internship program at Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations is intended to provide college / university students and recent graduates the opportunity to use and develop skills they have learned in the classroom by working at our state-of-the-art production facility, and to provide Volkswagen Chattanooga the opportunity to develop talent for potential future entry-level positions.
Summary
Our internships are full-time positions (40 hrs/week). Candidates will be expected to be available to work during normal business hours (Monday – Friday; exact hours will vary by position and some positions might require work on Saturdays). To be eligible for the internship program, candidates are required to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution or have graduated from one within the 6 months prior to the start date of the internship. Candidates who do not meet this guideline will not be considered. This position will start on January 2025 and end on May 9th, 2025. Applications for later terms will not be accepted at this time.
Responsibilities
Support of a variety of IT topics such as IT Security, SAP, IT Operations, ITIL, Project Management, etc. This internship assumes existing knowledge in manufacturing environments and basic knowledge of the automotive industry.
Includes but not limited to:
- Assistance in providing IT Support
- Support for definition of IT requirements
- Support to develop an application test catalog
- Support local ITP team in definition, creation and implementation of new system requirements.
- Support of the local ITP team in analyzing data and creating management summaries on IT operations topics.
- Daily administrative work functions
Qualifications
Education Required: Minimum of 2 years of study in Computer Science, IT, or Industrial Engineering

- Experience in IT applications
- Knowledge in defining test catalogs for new applications and execution of system tests.
- Analytical and conceptual thinking – using logic and reason, creative and strategic thinking
- Communication skills
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, & Access)
- Integration – joining people, processes or systems
- Influencing and negotiation skills
- Resource management
- Problem solving; being able to solve complex problems effectively and efficiently
Preferred
- Document Management capabilities
- Technical documentation experience
- Advanced IT infrastructure capabilities
- Advanced IT application capabilities
Pay
Pay Rates based on level of education:
- Junior: $18/hour
- Senior: $20/hour
- Bachelor’s degree/recent graduate: $24.00
- Master’s degree/enrolled or recent graduate: $27.00
- Ph.D. / enrolled or recent graduate: $29.00
