The internship program at Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations is intended to provide college / university students and recent graduates the opportunity to use and develop skills they have learned in the classroom by working at our state-of-the-art production facility, and to provide Volkswagen Chattanooga the opportunity to develop talent for potential future entry-level positions.
Summary
Our internships are full-time positions (40 hours/week). Candidates will be expected to be available to work during normal business hours (Monday – Friday; exact hours will vary by position and some positions might require work on Saturdays). To be eligible for the internship program, candidates are required to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution or have graduated from one within the 6 months prior to the start date of the internship. Candidates who do not meet our guideline will not be considered. This position will start in August 2023 and end in December 2023 with a chance for extension through May 2024. Applications for later terms will not be accepted at this time.
Responsibilities
As a local intern the applicant shall support the Industrial Engineering and Production System department in activities associated with industrial engineering, new model process development as well as continuous improvement activities. Exposure to lean manufacturing principles and concepts are expected.
- Support Day to Day Industrial Engineering activities as needed.
- Lead and/or support projects in the department included but limited to MTM adjustments, Arbeitsplan management, job aids for process changes, Productivity initiatives such as “Fit for Finish", and Continuous Improvement workshops.
- Assist in the preparation (duties as required) for the future model launches
- Apply interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with the IE team and achieve common goals.

Education
Required: 2+ years university (Industrial Engineering or related)

- Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing systems/processes
