The internship program at Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations is intended to provide college / university students and recent graduates the opportunity to use and develop skills they have learned in the classroom by working at our state-of-the-art production facility, and to provide Volkswagen Chattanooga the opportunity to develop talent for potential future entry-level positions. 

 

Our internships are full-time positions (40 hrs/week).  Candidates will be expected to be available to work during normal business hours (Monday – Friday; exact hours will vary by position and some positions might require work on Saturdays).  To be eligible for the internship program, candidates are required to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution, or have graduated from one within the 6 months prior to the start date of the internship.  Candidates who do not meet this guideline will not be considered. This position will start in January 2019 and end in May 2019.  Applications for later terms will not be accepted at this time

Summary

As a local intern, the applicant shall Support the Industrial Engineering Department in activities associated with Manufacturing, Learning and Development, as well as Continuous Improvement activities (workshops, etc.). Successful intern will behave in depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing systems and processes.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support at least one line as an Industrial Engineer
  • Lead and/or support projects in the department (Example: MTM Adjustments, Arbeitsplan Management, job aids for process chants, productivity initiatives, etc.)
  • Assist instructors in formulating class training standards (writing of learning objectives).
  • Research Lean Objectives and global Lean Center files, and coordinate knowledge transfer with instructors
  • Create and/or improve master schedule in cooperation with shop schedule coordinator
  • Translate (using online resources if necessary) global curriculum as required.
  • Other related duties as required to support either Industrial Engineering or Process Experts

Qualifications

Must currently be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary educational institution or have graduated from one within six months prior to the start date of the internship.

Education

Required: Minimum of 2 years completed towards degree in Engineering, or related  field.

Desired: Senior in Bachelor's Engineering Program
