Summary
Responsible to develop cost effective direct labor strategy with industrial engineering and human resources leadership. Plan, forecast, account and report the direct labor headcount & cost of VW Chattanooga. Analyze changes to VBZ, line speed, production schedules, attendance calendars, temp mix, pay rates, fringe costs, overtime, etc. and properly summarize their impact to the financial statements (actual vs. budget, forecast, multi-year planning round). Area of responsibility greater than 100 MUSD per year.
Responsibilities
- Develop & negotiate new product direct labor costs, and direct labor launch costs.
- Monitor changes in operational, compensation, engineering variables that influence direct labor costs and properly manage/reconcile those change points through the planning round, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Utilizing launch project plans and production schedules, develop direct labor launch cost plans for new models including core training time, process OJT, rework, ramp-up curve and timing, etc.
- Drive agreed product cost target status & new product launch cost status into the 6 year long range financial plan; monitor and reconcile change points
- Drive planning round premises into further detail (by account by month) to achieve the overall cost target that aligns to operational plans & HR pay/attendance policies
- Financial Monthly Forecasting each month, forecast the full year effect of change points
- Financial Reconciliations – reconcile and present change points (VBZ, cost rates, etc.) in professional formats to executive stakeholders
- Monitor payroll postings, temp agency invoice postings, and adjust/accrue as necessary; support audits
- Provide transparent and timely analysis to various financial control groups in WOB regarding all components of direct labor cost
- Drive benchmark and continuous improvement to better find Chattanooga direct labor opportunities and control processes with other VW locations
- Align data into results for a wide network of financial statement readers with different interests (WOB Controlling, VW Brand Board, NAR Controlling, and VW Chattanooga support areas
- Plan the complete industrial engineering and assigned overhead costs for VW Chattanooga including harbor report, lean center, including the evaluation of hiring initiatives
- Any other actions deemed reasonable by management
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of professional work experience in related field including time in productivity or labor cost management
- 4 year Bachelor‘s Degree in Accounting/Finance or Engineering
- Advanced skill level in manipulating complex, error free spreadsheets
- Comprehensive knowledge of SAP R/3 or similar ERP system (Controlling, Accounting, Payroll/HR, Time & Attendance)
Preferred
- Master‘s Degree in Accounting/Finance
- Knowledge of VW production system or similar production operation
- CPA
- German language fluency
- Knowledge of HPU, Harbour Report, TM1, Board and other advanced reporting tools
