Summary
Key contact for the co-ordination of Model Year changes and special changes on the vehicle. Key contact for the technical release process (TPPA) of model year changes on the vehicle. Internal and external contact person for Technical Change Evaluations and Implementations. Internal and external contact person for Bill of Material and Technical System questions.
Responsibilities
• Establishes, monitors, and reports the status of evaluations and implementations of product related technical changes, cross-checking systems information, analyzing them, and processing them accordingly.
• Co-Ordinates the cost evaluation of technical changes, proofing the cost and ensuring there is a sufficient justification to offset costs reported. Ensures the correct lead time is reported during the evaluation and used for tracking the implementation of changes after approval.
• Tracks the status of changes and interfaces with Central Planning (PPZ) and Product Management (GMBS) until decision.
• Updates TEVON (IT System), so that all relevant plant information is accessible to the entire VW organization.
• Tracks status of B-Releases, Supplier and Purchase Order, BMG, Tooling Dates and Part sampling information.
• Verifies inventory levels of parts to minimize obsolesce but have the earliest possible implementation.
• Verifies the transport facilities, supplier readiness, production capacity, equipment availability, and production line are ready for implementation.
• Issues and controls the implementation date for series and pre-series vehicles in Timing Cockpit (IT System).
• Analyze, with the SET teams, all product technical changes, their effects on the product, production process, validity timing, and application. Coordinates in cross-functional basis, the activities for their introduction.
• Organizes special actions to implement urgent engineering changes, involving all affected areas.
• Maintains the plant specific Bill of Materials to ensure the parts planning is correct and the vehicles are built as required.
• This position ensures the implementation of technical changes (product quality improvements, local development and cost reduction programs), following-up all parts from approval to line implementation so to prevent job stoppers, missing parts or miss builds and, at the same time, avoid excess of obsolete material.
• Co-ordinate the technical release process (TPPA) of model year changes on the vehicle.
• Co-ordinate the build schedule of pre-series vehicles, with car steering, to ensure the vehicles are built in the correct order.
• Track deviation permits to ensure the pre-series vehicle bill of materials is correct.
• Update the pre-series vehicle bill of materials as required with car steering.
• Track the pre-series vehicle options (PR Numbers) built to ensure every option is tested in the Pre-Series for a safe launch.
• Works according to approved VW processes and work instructions.
Qualifications
Required
- 5-10 years logistics experience, Launch Management experience, Eng. Change Management experience
- Degree in Engineering in a technical area, or equivalent / accumulative experience
- Able to understand and analyze manufacturing processes and how internal and external costs and timing are developed from these processes. Deciding, with other functional departments, if costs and timing are plausible.
- Able to understand vehicle construction methodology and the technical reasons for changes.
- Being able to understand and analyze the structure and function of the Bill of Materials and able to make decisions on and edit the Bill of Materials.
- High aptitude for computers and complex IT systems.
- Able to clearly communicate and navigate throughout the entire VW organization – internal to Chattanooga, within the Puebla operations, and within WOB.
Preferred
- Experience in VW – Pre series and Series Logistics Computer Systems with input / Integrity responsibility like SAP, Timing Cockpit, PSSL, TEVON, PROMON, KEYMONO, AVON, COPS
- German fluency
