The internship program at Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations is intended to provide college / university students and recent graduates the opportunity to use and develop skills they have learned in the classroom by working at our state-of-the-art production facility, and to provide Volkswagen Chattanooga the opportunity to develop talent for potential future entry-level positions.

 

Our internships are full-time positions (40 hrs/week).  Candidates will be expected to be available to work during normal business hours (Monday – Friday; exact hours will vary by position and some positions might require work on Saturdays).  To be eligible for the internship program, candidates are required to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution, or have graduated from one within the 6 months prior to the start date of the internship.  Candidates who do not meet this guideline will not be considered.

Summary

Assist in and support measurement activities related to component/system functional performance analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Data analysis:  Evaluate measurement data against specifications, measurement data analysis (programming in Python, C++, etc.)
  • Communication: Provide Specialists with status updates on various tasks
  • Process:  Develop test fixture CAD models
  • Process:  Develop data post processing tools to support analysis and presentation
  • Process:  Support report generation
  • Technical analysis: Research and gather performance specifications

Qualifications

Education

Required: 

  • Student working on technical Bachelor’s degree (Engineering degree/ material science, Mathematics, Physics)

Preffered:

  • EE, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering student
  • Mathematics or Physics student

 

Specialized Skills

Required:

  • Advanced MS Excel / Powerpoint skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills
  • Dedicated professional attitude

Preffered:

  • Automotive technical background
  • Metrology experience
  • Project Management

 

Basic Knowledge

  • Analytical and deductive skills – use evidence and facts to reach conclusions
  • Systemic thinking – using logic and reason
  • Communication skills – interpersonal, presentation, and written
  • Technical capacity to analyze vehicle mechanisms
