The Scholar Program at Volkswagen Group of America offers university sophomores and above the opportunity to apply and expand their classroom knowledge through hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art production facility. This program also helps Volkswagen Chattanooga develop potential talent for future entry-level positions. 

The program runs from June 2nd 2025, to May 29, 2026. Participants work part-time (minimum of 15 hours per week during business hours) while classes are in session and full-time (up to 40 hours per week) during school breaks. To be eligible, candidates must be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary institution. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will not be considered.

Summary

The Human Resource Scholar will work directly with the HR Operations team in the Chattanooga Manufacturing plant. This role involves researching, analyzing, and developing solutions to address absenteeism due to sickness within our organization. The successful candidate will work closely with the health and safety team to identify root causes and implement strategies to reduce sick-related absences. Additionally, the candidate will provide support in day-to-day business operations, including preparing presentations for senior leadership and managing office tasks. This role reports directly to the VP / Head of HR Operations Chattanooga, requiring a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Research: Conduct thorough research on the theoretical perspectives of sick-related absenteeism.
  • Analysis: Collaborate with the health and safety team to analyze the root causes of absenteeism due to sickness at Volkswagen.
  • Solution Development: Develop innovative ideas and solutions to lower the sick rate within the organization.
  • Business Support: Prepare presentations for senior leadership and assist with various day-to-day business tasks.
  • Office Management: Arrange meetings, support with visitors, and manage other office-related activities.
     

Qualifications

Master's degree preferred, Bachelor's degree welcome in HR, Psychology, Organizational Development, International Management/Business, or related fields.
