The internship program at Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations is intended to provide college / university students and recent graduates the opportunity to use and develop skills they have learned in the classroom by working at our state-of-the-art production facility, and to provide experience and insight into the culture.
Summary
The Battery Planning team is responsible for managing equipment investments, which include optimizing the existing battery production line and planning for new products to be integrated into current or new production lines. The intern will play a key role in supporting both series and pre-series projects, troubleshooting downtime issues, and contributing to continuous improvement activities.
This position will start on June 2nd 2025 and end on Aug 8th 2025. Our internships are full-time positions (40 hours/week). Candidates will be expected to be available to work during normal business hours (Monday – Friday; exact hours will vary by position and some positions might require work on Saturdays).
To be eligible for the internship program, candidates are required to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution or have graduated from one within 6 months prior to the start date of the internship. At this time, we are unable to consider OPT/CPT/International candidates
Responsibilities
- Assist with series and pre-series production projects.
- Troubleshoot downtime issues to identify and resolve problems efficiently.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities aimed at enhancing production efficiency.
- Develop business cases for new equipment investments.
- Shadow and assist planners with equipment design, installation, commissioning, and handover processes.
- Use CAD software (Microstation and Catia) to support design activities.
- Support 3D printing initiatives for product prototyping or equipment development.
- Shadow and assist management in using task tracking tools to monitor project progress.
Qualifications
- Pursuing an engineering degree with a focus on mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering.
- Some hands-on experience, either through previous internships, personal projects, or coursework, would be beneficial.
